This story takes place on a summer?s day in 1804 in the garden of Sir Timothy Bellboy?s house in Dorset. An invasion by Napoleon is expected at any time and Timothy and his brother Lamprett have made preparations for that eventuality. Lady Bellboys has joined the local women?s Amazons and appears in armour. A primitive fire-engine is at the ready. Posters proclaiming ?INVASION! are prepared.The members of a local defence organisation are deployed to resist the enemy. Timothy dresses as Napoleon to confuse his troops and is mistaken for Nelson. |
